THE WAY OF A CHRISTIAN, THE WAY OF PRAYER by Raquel

A few days ago I came across a petition against the movie Habit. This obviously struck my interest; a female Jesus? This was defiantly bound to cause some turmoil.

At first I was going to write about how this would be a sacrilege to religion. I was going talk about how yes, we have the right to freedom of speech, to women empowerment, LGBTQIAP+ empowerment but this goes beyond just freedom of speech, woman empowerment or any LGBTQIAP+ campaign, this dives into the waters, of religion and custom, faith and culture. I was going to write about how we need to remember that this right goes with a responsibility which is to respect those our freedom impacts. How we must disregard our religious divide and fight, because if it were your religion, your faith, your culture being sacrificed for the sake of entertainment you wouldn’t stand it, but then is saw the unthinkable,

“Christian hate group is predictably furious about Paris Jackson playing ‘repulsive, gender-bending’ Jesus Christ”, headline by PinkNews

And I thought “Christian” and “hate group” in the same sentence? This shouldn’t be. Christians are disciples of Jesus Christ, imitators of the Saviour, so I want us to think, What Would Jesus Do? Would Jesus express hostility towards them. He wouldn’t agree with the movie, yes but he would pray for their forgiveness and hand them over to His Father in Heaven like He did when He was persecuted and crucified.

Luke 23:34: Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.

We as Christians are forgetting we are chosen by God, a holy nation, a royal priesthood, God’s special possession; so we must act like it. Yes, we can sign our petitions but without Gods backing they will be nothing but a piece of paper with our names on it. We are forgetting Ephesians 6:12 says:

For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

So let us call on the Lord our God, let us pray to Him, put the matter into His hand because nothing is impossible with him. Go into prayer, fight against the forces of evil behind this war, because this is not our battle, but that of the Lord and if we fight by flesh alone will only tarnish our name as Christians and that is the plan of the enemy. Go to the Father in Heaven, talk to him.

This battle is already won to those who believe. I am not telling you to stop your petition, I am telling you not to forget the way of a Christian; the way of prayer.

  2. Hi Raquel, good article. Thanks for sharing. Another school of thought could be that acting as a christian includes not allowing people tanish the image of the Father. Matthew 21:12 tells us Jesus drove out those who were buying and selling in the house of God. Asking God for their forgiveness and being docile are 2 different things. Many times Jesus spoke out against the custom of the pharisees, correcting those who persecuted him. At the end, he didn't resist when they came for him because it was all in line with God's plan. Is their persecution and depiction of the bible in line with God's plan?

    1. Hmmm, So it more about seeking the face of God on the matter and acting toward his will and not against it. In other words there is time to act and there is a time to pray, so it is for us to ask and find out which one is in line with God's will for us. That's quite insightful.
